James Bacon is the quiet artist, life enabler and avid bicyclist who has been the man Friday behind the queen of Chattanooga Bluegrass, Cindy Pinion. James has always preferred to say out of the spotlight but together they have been pillars of a close knit community and inspiration to many.
On July 3rd, at about 1:00 pm, James was riding his bicycle near his brother's home in Knoxville TN when, as Cindy posted on facebook...
“Friends i need lots of positive thoughts and prayers as i travel to knoxville to stay with my husband james as we await the news of how serious his injuries are from being hit by a car in knoxville, It was a hit and run then the fellow crashed into a tree and was taken to jail, and some bastard stole james bike while they were loading him in the ambulance. For sure his collar bone is broken and they are keeping him as his head injury has swelling with it. James is a very respectful bike rider and was well over into the bike lane ,when this guy hit him. As u might expect , i am tore up and mad as heck. I will update as soon as i know something else.”
Well, what we know right now is James suffered a broken collar bone, fractures in his face and spine, bleeding in his frontal lobe and a case of road rash that will likely take skin grafts. He's looking at an extended period of healing.
James and Cindy have always shared what they have with the community and rarely ask for assistance so we jumped at the chance to help them out when Jamey Guy received permission from Cindy. We set the fund raising goal at $10,000 without any knowledge of what the actual medical bills, time off work and a new bicycle might amount to.
“If everyone who's been helped by James and Cindy gave a dollar, they'd be millionaires” was Jamey Guy's comment. I think he might be right.

PS. I just got off the phone with Cindy, confirming everything and talking about the struggles they face, and she said "My baby's alive, that's all I care."
