Jamesly and Sonson's medical care in Jacmel, Haiti
Donation protected
Dear friends and family,
You all may know that for many years, we have worked with farmers in Moreau, Haiti, on projects for improving healthcare, education, and the environment in this area. Due to the remote location of this village in the southern mountains, consistently accessing quality medical care has always been a challenge for this community. Emergency medical care sometimes requires airlifting patients out via helicopter because the long moto rides through the mountains are impossible in their condition. These barriers make accessing medical care expensive and difficult, often deterring children and families from getting the care they need.
This week, two young boys in the village, Jamesly and Sonson, were struck by lightning during a series of intense thunderstorms that swept through the area. Thankfully, they survived the initial trauma of this horrific event but needed immediate medical care for their substantial injuries. We immediately sent funds to pay for them to get to a hospital in Jacmel, where both boys are still being treated. Their ongoing medical care will cost much more, and we would like to raise additional funds for their physical therapy and other recovery expenses.
Please consider donating to help us meet this emergency need -- any spare funds will be put into a fund for future medical expenses in the village. We immensely appreciate your support and are grateful we can work together to guarantee quality medical care for the village of Moreau. You can learn more about our non-profit at www.mijaba.org.
