Jamesly’s Story
Early morning before 7 am, Thursday, September 3rd, 14-year-old Jamesly Malande was walking to school. As Jamesly was walking across the U.S. 41 crosswalk, he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle drove away, and Jamesly was left critically injured lying in the middle of the road. Many people proceeded to call for help immediately. Jamesly was then airlifted to Lee Memorial Hospital and regained consciousness after undergoing major surgery for his leg and hand. In his short time at Lely High School as a freshman, fellow band students were impressed with the passion and drive Jamesly put forth for music and life. Jamesly’s ongoing treatments will likely include a lengthy hospital stay, physical therapy, follow up doctor appointments and rehabilitation and much more, which, of course, adds up in many medical expenses. In addition there will be crushing out of pocket expenses, including travel costs to and from Ft Myers where he is being treated.
The Lely High School Band Boosters helped organize this account to provide some relief from the high medical and other related costs that the family is going to encounter through Jamesly’s healing. The band community is a close-knit family. We all feel deeply for Jamesly and his family during this moment. We felt compelled that this is the best way to show our concern and support for Jamesly and his family. Please help as you can to help the family with some of the crushing medical bills necessary for Jamesly’s full recovery! Thank you in advance for your support!
