Help with Jameson’s Life-Saving Surgery
Donation protected
Jameson is a 4-month old, fun loving fur ball of heaven recovering from a life threatening condition.
About a week ago Jameson was unable to keep any food down, so his parents took him to their vet and were told to simply feed him less food more often. Come Sunday, Jameson was still not retaining any food or water and became lethargic, so Jess and Jose took him to the emergency vet. They ran tests and took X-rays then reported a few “questionable” areas of potential blockage but recommended getting a bag of fluid, an anti-nausea shot, and to follow up with the primary vet the next day.
After discharge from the ER, Jameson continued to vomit. Jess and Jose contacted the on-call primary vet, had the X-ray images looked at, and were informed the vet wanted to do an ultrasound to get a better picture of what was going on in his intestines, which they only do during normal business hours.
On Monday, what started out as an exploratory ultrasound turned into $10,000 life-saving surgery. It was determined Jameson had intussusception. Specifically, his ileum, which is the last foot of the small intestine, was slipped into the large intestine. Only about 25% was able to be saved and the other 75% was removed. The removed section was sent off and tested to determine a cause for the intussusception, but results are still pending.
The next two weeks Jameson will need to be very calm, but he is expected to make a full recovery and live a mostly healthy life. His vitamin B levels will need to be closely monitored since that is absorbed through the ileum and ensuring that continues is crucial as Jameson’s is shortened.
The Matamoros family will be receiving this money directly to aid with the emergency vet bills incurred. Their current out-of-pocket expenses are over $12K. The goal is just to make sure Jess and Jose are not worried about money while they focus on Jameson’s recovery.
Nothing is too small, and everything is appreciated. Please help donate, share, and or pray for Jameson’s best recovery for a long healthy life.
Jess, Jose, and Jameson are very thankful for everyone’s love and support.
