I have set up this GoFundMe to help my best friend, Jamie, and her husband, Brian, out during a long, unexpected hospital stay for their son, James.

On February 5th, James had what was supposed to be a normal esophageal dilation. The procedure was unfortunately mishandled, and James' esophagus was perforated. This was not caught by the surgeons, and for 2 days, his chest filled with air and fluid, collapsing his right lung. It was Jamie's persistence with the medical staff that eventually an X-ray was ordered and the issue was detected.

James was in the NNICU for 105 days after his birth, and after a traumatic experience, both Jamie and Brian have vowed that James will not be left unattended during this stay. Neither of them have available PTO at this time, and their CT Paid Leave benefits have not renewed; it was used by both for the NNICU stay and the bonding time needed when James was discharged.

We would like to give them some peace during this time by helping them financially. Jamie and Brian are the most thoughtful and caring people I know. They think of everyone else's care and happiness and truly would give anyone anything they needed, even if that meant they'd go without. I want to cover their expenses for a couple of months, if possible. I appreciate anyone that is able to help.
