The Scoop:

Jamie needs our help.

On January 27th she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  News that has drastically changed what 2021 has in store for her.

We (her family and friends) set up this page 1) so that we could keep the many people who love her up to date with news of how she is doing, and 2) so that people can support her.

The Details:

On December 26th, Jamie noticed something a bit unusual with one of her ladies. She quickly sprang to action to have the necessary testing done. The real story starts on January 27th when, after a number of appointments and tests, she received her results. This was a day we will never forget.

If anyone knows the Briglio’s, we are extremely tight knit. That feeling of family extends well beyond bloodlines to our close friends. We wear our hearts on our sleeves, which means we tend to be quite adept at worrying. For each of us, hearing from Jamie the news that she was diagnosed with cancer was a big pill to swallow and it has left us thinking about how we can help her beat this.

Her official prognosis is Stage 2B, Grade 3 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma.

Jamie doesn’t sit around and let things happen. She is a boss. She has approached her diagnosis with the same energy, positivity, and get-shit-done-ness that she dedicates to everything in her life. Within a month she had completed testing, received her diagnosis, scheduled a first, second, and third opinion, and was well on her way to determine the best way forward.

Watching her handle such an impossible situation with the same positive energy that she takes to her normal day-to-day has been something truly astonishing. Jamie is an energetic bolt of lightning and that bright spark has not wavered since the moment she received a cancer prognosis.

What's Next:

Jamie begins chemo on March 2nd. The current treatment plan includes a 16-week chemotherapy program, followed by surgery, and then radiation.

We are all very optimistic that in a few short months, this will be just a bad dream that we have woken up from.

But as strong as Jamie has been, and as hard as she is going to attack her treatment, she isn’t Wonder Woman. The treatment is likely going to take a toll on her, using up the majority of her energy.  As a result and out of caution to avoid COVID and other infections that could compromise an immune system already stressed by the treatment, she is going to be out of work for 5-6 months as she focuses on her health and healing.

For Jamie, being away from her friends and family for such a long time is probably the worst part about the treatment. We all know she is energized by the people she gets to interact with each and every day, especially at work.

Our Ask:

Help in any way you can – there are lots of ways!

Dealing with her diagnosis is going to be hard. Missing out on her life and her friends and family is going to be worse. Not being able to work creates the trifecta of bad news.

To help lighten the load, we have set up this fund. We want to make sure she has all of the support she needs to focus on getting better. Donating to the fund is definitely not the only way to support Jamie, we (and Jamie when she is feeling up for it) will post updates to this page so everyone can be kept up to speed on her progress.
