Flood Relief for Jamie, Camilla and Quanah Haskell
Donation protected
This is a fundraiser to help our family replace the basics such as appliances, bedding, clothes, first aid and cleaning supplies due to complete loss of their home contents.
On Sunday December 17th 2023 an unimaginable amount of rain following Cyclone Jasper caused the Bloomfield River to break its banks. Within hours our family home and an entire community was completely submerged. We are all still in shock at the sheer amount of water and speed at which it came in the middle of the night. They are safe but have a devastating loss.
Roads are cut off and the Navy began evacuating the neighbouring community yesterday. The extent of the damage to the entire community is unknown as communications have been down and floodwaters are still receding. What we do know is that they have lost their homes and everything in them.
As the rain eases and our family begins picking up the pieces we are doing all we can to help from afar. It is a long road ahead to recovery for the entire region and our thoughts are with others in similar and worse situation’s.
We appreciate the love and support of our family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. Many of you have asked how you can help so we are creating this fundraiser for those that want, and are able, to contribute to help our family get back on their feet. This fundraiser is just for the initial essential items but they will still have a long way to go cleaning up, replacing and rebuilding as they start over in retirement.
We know times are tough for a lot of people especially this time of year, even a small donation of $10 helps. We appreciate the love and support of our community. Hug your loved ones and take care of each other.
Grateful they are still smiling through all of this.
