Jamie Holm Battling Stage 4 Cancer

Donation protected

An update from Jamie's family.  On Friday, April 23, Jamie was admitted to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota with sepsis. She was put into an induced coma. Her condition worsened and she never regained consciousness. She was placed on end-of-life care Saturday, May 1 and passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3 with her family by her side. Any future donations will be split between cancer research and a trust set up for her 15-month-old son, Seto. Thank you, everyone. - Chris Holm

Our friend Jamie Holm was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Stomach Cancer. Jamie needs the support of her music community friends, fans, and family around the world.  Jamie, her Fiancé Karl, and 3-month old son Seto Karr have a tremendous journey ahead of them. It is a journey that will be made easier with the help of the community and friends.  That is why I started this fundraiser.  - Scotty Herold

An Urgent Note From Jamie’s fiancé Karl:

Due to the circumstances surrounding Mayo Clinic's prognosis that was recently given to Jamie shortly after this page was created, we have increased this fundraiser goal. Please continue reading below for details regarding Jamie's prognosis and this time-sensitive and critical cause. I cannot thank you enough for your support.

Jamie discovered the alarming news of cancer while in the ER at a local hospital on Easter (April 2020) for severe abdominal pain, two months after giving birth to our beautiful baby boy. She then did many tests and procedures in order to obtain a more detailed diagnosis, a prognosis, and her treatment options. The prognosis in early May turned out to be much worse than expected, the type of cancer probable has a life expectancy of 6 - 12 months.

Because Mayo Clinic is the global authority in medical research and patient care, we knew we needed their help after the unexpected and initial discovery of advanced cancer at our local hospital, so we transferred her care to Mayo Clinic and immediately began Chemotherapy in light of Mayo's cancer prognosis and treatment options. However, we desperately need help speeding up the advances and development of a more effective treatment for her cancer.

Her physician at the Mayo Clinic told Jamie and I during the recent consultation (when we were told the prognosis)  “....we have very active Stomach Cancer Programs....we’re developing something for stomach cancer right now....I would consider you immediately for a trial….”.

The main concern is whether or not the new treatment and trial will be ready and available during Jamie’s short life expectancy. It’s a very aggressive cancer.

Fearing it won’t be ready in time, I asked if donating money to the Research/Development Program for Cancer, at Mayo Clinic would help speed up the development of the new treatment (thus potentially giving Jamie a much better chance at survival), the Specialist replied, “Yeah that would definitely help….”.

With that, there is still hope for Jamie to receive a more effective treatment - hope for a better prognosis, and increased life expectancy, and possibly even to help make incurable cancer ...curable. Every day and every dollar truly does matter given her circumstances.

All of the money raised here will go to Jamie, to help offset her expenses, and to help support her during this difficult time. As we continue working closely with Mayo Clinic to achieve the best possible outcome for Jamie, a portion of the funds will be given to Mayo Clinic to be put towards cancer research and treatment development for Jamie’s advanced cancer - speeding up the development of a new treatment.

Thank you so much for your time, generosity, and tremendous support towards helping increase this young mother’s fighting chance at survival. Each and every person that helps with this critical cause will forever be in the hearts of Jamie, our baby Seto, and I.

~Karl
