Jamie Smith's Leukemia Recovery

Donation protected
My mom, Jamie Smith, is never one to ask for help. However, she is the one everyone runs to when they need a roof over their head, money for a light bill, a warm meal in their belly, or just an ear to listen to whatever problems may be going on in their life. Jamie always has other people's backs. Now, it is our turn to have her back.

Earlier this year, Jamie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Since her diagnosis, she has been receiving chemotherapy at UTMB in Galveston. She has made leaps and bounds in her treatment, but the only thing that will save her life is a bone marrow transplant. Fortunately, her sister is a match and a transplant for Jamie will take place at Houston Methodist in January 2017.

Thanks to insurance, the transplant itself has been covered. Unfortunately, the type of transplant she must undergo requires her to not work for six months. My mom cleans houses for a living and the environment is not conducive to her recovery.

Jamie does not have family or funding that is able to cover all of her expenses for such an extended amount of time. If you are able to help, the money you give will go towards food, bills, and her rent. This money may also go towards an extended stay in the Houston area after her transplant. This has yet to be determined by her doctor, but I have factored that into the dollar amount provided.

I know many of you have been touched by my mom whether it be directly or through the many, many stories I share about that beautiful woman. Hopefully, you can find it in your heart to donate or share this page with your loved ones. If you wish to help but do not want to contribute to this fund, please consider donating to cancer research. I think we can all agree that cancer is the absolute worst.
