Jamie McKinney Rusk: 3/3/71 - 9/12/15
Jamie was diagnosed with stage IV cancer of the duodenum on May 2, 2007, just 10 weeks after the birth of her first child.
In the eight and a half years following her diagnosis, Jamie poured her time and energy into raising her two sons, Tyler and Jack. She nurtured her marriage to her husband Kevin, a stage IV prostate cancer survivor. She made new friendships and maintained the old. She continued to pursue her marketing career. All this, while remaining actively involved in her children's school and in her community.
Jamie advocated for education. She graduated from Coral Gables Senior High School in 1989 and from University of Florida in 1993. She had a clear vision for her boys -- to provide them with a solid educational foundation. From the time they were very young, Jamie worked closely with each of them daily to complete homework assignments, projects and test preparations. Jamie instilled in her boys the value of hard work.
Jamie's desire for her sons was that Jack and Tyler receive the best education possible as they pursue their dreams and achieve their hightest potential.
A donation to this fund is a step toward fulfilling Jamie's wish for her children.
