Jamie’s Journey: Help Us Make His Life Brighter After Kawasaki Disease

My 4-year-old cousin Jamie has been through more than any child should have to endure. In July of this year, Jamie was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, a rare and serious condition that causes inflammation in the blood vessels throughout the body. Unfortunately as a result of the disease, Jamie is one of the unlucky 2-3% of children who has ended up with a heart complication. He has developed two coronary aneurysms which will require lifelong monitoring and management as well as huge adjustments to his lifestyle due to anticoagulation therapies. Jamie will be excluded from contact sports (including school PE) for the rest of his life and will be unable to partake in lots of activities that little boys tend to love the most. Despite these challenges, Jamie remains full of energy and determination, and we’re committed to helping him live life to the fullest.

I am hoping to raise money to go towards funding 1-2-1 sporting activities for Jamie throughout the coming years, since he will be unable to participate in group or contact activities. This assistance will allow Jamie to lead a happy, active and healthy lifestyle while removing the dangers associated with team sports.

To help raise money, I’m taking on the challenge of competing in a Hyrox in Stockholm this December. Hyrox is a global fitness competition that combines running with 8 functional workout stations, including rowing, skiing, and sled pushing. It's a gruelling test of endurance and strength, but it’s nothing compared to what Jamie has been through. I’m pushing myself to the limit to support him and raise funds that will make a real difference in his life, helping him overcome the new challenges this illness has brought.

I will be raising funds for two important causes:

Supporting the Kawasaki Charity: This charity is dedicated to raising awareness, funding research, and helping other families affected by this rare but serious disease.

Helping Jamie Thrive: We want to make sure Jamie can still enjoy sports, even though he can no longer participate in team-based activities. These activities are so important for his well-being and happiness.

Jamie’s life has completely changed because of this illness, but with your help, we can make sure he still has the chance to enjoy his childhood. Any donation, big or small, will make a huge difference in Jamie’s life and the lives of other children facing similar battles. Thank you for your support!
