JAMnesty Fundraiser for Refugees, Migrants, and Asylum Seekers
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm a member of Lake Forest Academy's Chapter of Amnesty International and we are planning a school-wide music festival, called JAMnesty, to raise money for refugees forced to flee their homes, often without resources or legal aid. If we can reach our fundraising goal of $10,000, Amnesty has agreed to direct our funds specifically toward their work regarding refugees. To do that, we need your help.
There are over 35.3 million refugees globally, and this number only continues to increase. 56,711 people have died while migrating between countries since 2014, and only 24% of refugees are hosted by high-income countries.
With recent outbreaks of war and political instability in places such as Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Gaza, more and more refugees need our help. Additionally, with worsening climate change, we will continue to see more climate refugees seeking aik.
In an attempt to aid refugees from all over the world, we will be donating to Amnesty International – a global movement of more than 7 million people who take injustice personally. Amnesty works to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth, and dignity are denied. Currently the world's largest grassroots human rights organization, they investigate and expose abuses, educate and mobilize the public, and help transform societies to create a safer, more just world.
We appreciate all of your contributions in advance!
