Hello Everyone,
It is with heavy hearts we are reaching out to the community in the time of need for our great friend Jan Faircloth. We have watched him bring and receive so much happiness to and from his family as well as his music community. He has been a part of the Explorers Percussion family for a long time and we want to help him out as much as we can, in any way possible.
Jan's Story -
Back in 2018 Jan was unfortunately diagnosed with dedifferentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma - Cancer and has been fighting ever since he found out.
Fast forward to the later part of 2019 - from Jan directly
"On the health-front, I'll give everyone the shortened version of what's happening with me. If you remember correctly, a year ago had a very large 25lb tumor removed form my abdomen. Then in February the doctors found that the disease (dedifferentiated retroperitoneal liposarcoma - Cancer) had moved to my lungs. They put me on chemo in order to slow its progress. By June, the progression of the lung tumors did slow, but the disease had moved on to my liver and was aggressively spreading there. They increased the power of the chemo that they had me on which made me sick and tired and really interfered with my every day life. My last scan in September showed massive, rapid growth of the liver tumor. At that point, my oncologist said further treatment would probably have very limited benefit and would probably just make me sick, tired, and miserable, and have little to no positive impact on the disease. In short - I'm done with treatment. I am going to enjoy life to the fullest until I can't anymore. In the last couple weeks, I have gone into hospice care. I'm still at home, I just have a hospice nurse come over to the house once a week and check my progress and try to keep my pain under control. My family have all agreed that I will pass in my home surrounded by my friends and family and not spend time in a hospital. Having said all of that, I feel GREAT!! I have lots of energy!! I have really been concentrating on spending LOTS of time with my favorite people. I've been playing gigs with a lot of my favorite musicians and teaching drum lessons with my favorite students. I am still open to playing with some more great players, so if you need a drummer, hit me up!! Or if you're a drummer who needs some fine-tuning let me know."
So lets come together and show Jan how much support he and his family has behind them during these times.
We do not have to stop at $5000 my friends, Jan is a great guy, he and his family deserve as much support as we can give.
