Oscar's Fund

Late the night of October 24th, in Louisville Kentucky, our friend and family member Oscar Sanchez was brutally attacked by an unprovoked mentally ill person and needs our help.
Oscar had traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to attend a conference as part of his role as a Facilities Manager at the University of Texas at El Paso. While leaving an evening function, a man ran up behind Oscar and slashed his throat with a knife. The man then continued on to attack another person further down the street.
Oscar is listed in serious but stable condition at the University of Louisville Hospital. He had extensive surgery to repair the damage and will spend at least 3 days in the ICU and 3-4 additional days in hospital beyond that. He is very fortunate that his carotid arteries were not hit. We do not yet know if there is any permanent damage to his vocal cords or other structures in his throat.
The family is requesting that if you are able to please assist them with funds to address the unexpected travel to fly out to be with Oscar in Louisville as well as the hospital costs that Oscar is sure to be facing.
