On January 9th my mom, Jana Weston, fell and broke her hip.
My mom had polio when she was a baby and has been on crutches most of her life. She does not have use of her right leg. She broke part of the trochanter (the ball part of the ball and socket joint of the hip) of her left hip (her good hip). She has a long road ahead of her of re-learning how to walk and regaining the independence she has fiercely relied on to live on her own.
The recovery time for this injury is three months for someone with use of both legs. She had surgery to repair the break a few days ago and is resting and beginning physical therapy at CHOMP. In the next couple of days she will be moved to a care center in Monterey.
I am asking for your help because although my mom has insurance, it does not fully cover her stay at the care center and physical rehabilitation. She is also facing her insurance ending in May and does not qualify for Medicare. This recovery will be a years long journey and we willl need your support to get my mom the care and healing necessary to regain her ability to walk.
