Janae Edmondson Spiritual Quilt

My name is Cindy Shaw. Hearts have been burdened by the recent accident that took place after the first day of play at the President’s Day volleyball tournament held at the St. Louis Dome. Janae Edmondson, an 17 year old elite volleyball player from Tennessee, had to have both of her legs amputated after being pinned between cars, after someone ran through a yielded intersection.  She survived the accident but has had to undergo multiple surgeries already and has remained in critical condition over these past couple of weeks.  She will remain in a St. Louis hospital for several more weeks until she is stable enough to be transported back to her home town in Tennessee.  The volleyball and St. Louis communities have provided much love and support for Janae and her family, including my daughter’s team and club. However, I felt called to do something more and asked a few ladies from Bethel if we could make Janae a quilt.  The quilt will be twin/full size , have various shades of purple (her favorite color) hearts which form flowers, and will feature several embroidered words capturing emotions she may be feeling and Fruits of the Spirit she can cling to such as Fear, Anxiety, Love, Peace, Grace, etc., along with Scripture reference verses for each. We also plan to have the quilt professionally quilted and would also like to get Janae a Bible embossed with her name. This young lady has a long road ahead of her physically, mentally, and spiritually so we thought a quilt and Bible would be a good way to minister longer term.  We estimate the quilt and Bible will cost approximately $500 and are asking folks to donate if you feel led.  We plan to pray over the gifts for Janae and family and send them by mid April, hopefully before she leaves St. Louis.
