Jane's Fund

Donation protected
Margaret Jane Smith, age 89, of Grove City, passed away on March 24, 2020. It is with a broken heart that we cannot celebrate Jane's life with her extended family and friends with traditional funeral services due to the current Stay-At-Home orders and gathering restrictions. To honor Jane's giving spirit, in lieu of flowers or funeral attendance, we've set up this fund to support families financially struggling to pay for assisted living care at The Hoover Haus in Grove City. Jane received wonderful care in her final days at The Hoover Haus and the family wishes to assist current and/or future families in need, like Jane.

Jane's obituary is below:

Margaret Jane Smith age 89 of Grove City passed away March 24, 2020. Services will be private for the family with interment to follow at Hampton Cemetery, West Jefferson, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Minnie Johnson, husband Phillip Allen Smith, brother Gene Johnson and sisters Zada Policaro, Mabel Halley, and Charlotte Newell. Survivors include her daughter Rosemary Cox, son-in-law, Michael Cox, grandchildren Shaun Cox, Lisa (Greg) Miller, Jeremy (Heather) Cox, Brandi (Ryan) Moore; great grandchildren Darrin Cox, Bryce Cox, Daniel Cox, Ayden Cox, Emily Miller, Owen Miller, Jacob Miller, Mackenzie Cox, Garrett Cox, Lukas Moore, Ella Moore, and Laine Moore; brother Howard Johnson, and sisters Ruthanne Althaus and Geneva Miller.  Outgoing, lovable, and at times feisty, Jane lived a vibrant, fun, and beautiful life. She was well known for her work ethic, choosing to work two jobs most of her life and officially retiring from Citibank Corporate at the age of 82. She also worked for Jefferson Local Schools, owned her own business, "Jane's T-Shirt Shop," and in her younger years worked at Ann & Tony's Restaurant in West Jefferson, Ohio. When Jane wasn't working, she passionately followed her favorite musician, Kenny Rogers, coining herself his No. #1 Fan. She traveled the country attending over 450 concerts, even going to England and Scotland when she was 80 years old to see his final tour.  Jane was also a huge fan of her daughter, four grandkids, and twelve great-grandkids. She loved being a part of their lives from the marching band, to Sunday dinners at her house to sleepovers. Jane also had a soft spot for the West Jefferson Girls Volleyball team, loved crocheting and knitting. Arrangements are with THE SPENCE-MILLER FUNERAL HOME Grove City, Ohio, where an online guest book may be signed at www.spencemillerfuneralhome.com
