Jane Around The World
Hi, my name is Jane and I am 13 years old. I am on a mission to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.
For many years, my family has served the homeless through soup kitchens, street ministries, donation drives, and more. About 2 years ago we went with some friends to bring blankets, socks, and pillows to “Tent City,” an area in Houston that is highly populated with homeless people. I was able to have one-on-one conversations, pray with, and love on people. It was then that I realized that these are just people who happened to have fallen on hard times!
From that point on, I knew I wanted to do more and the idea of Jane Around The World was born. I wanted to start by giving people things that they need but that they can’t afford to buy so I began creating care packages. Each care package includes essential items like deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush, socks, band-aids, cleansing wipes, chapstick, and soap. Not only will these packages give then a temporary solution to some basic needs, each package will be packed with HOPE and LOVE changing their life forever.
In a simple shopping trip to our local convenience store, we were able to get all of the items listed above for just $8 per package. Only $8 to provide a glimpse of hope to people that need it the most. We have been able to capitalize on bulk pricing and are making the bags at an average of $4 per bag and supplying a "backpack" tote bag. It is my dream to provide over 1,000 care packages for homeless people, but my goals don’t stop there!
Goal #1: $5,000 to provide 1,000 bags to the homeless in Houston.
Goal #2: $10,000 to double inventory and provide 1,000 more bags to reach the surrounding Houston area.
Goal #3: $25,000 to provide resources to local shelters (purchase gas cards, metro cards, basic employment needs, childcare needs) in addition to a 3 month sponsorship for 5 different families within local shelters.
Goal #4: $50,000 to continue providing bags for immediate needs and host a resource fair with local and national agencies to create connectivity and ultimately begin to change the poverty epidemic.
Goal #5: $100,000 to purchase and renovate a facility in order to create a hub for resources and temporary shelter for those in need.
To date we have registered Jane Around The World, Inc. and became an official non-profit as of February 2020! Please prayerfully consider partnering with me on this journey - there is no donation too big or small. I believe with your help we can make a huge difference in many people's lives! This is only the beginning, but we must start somewhere - why not start here?
