Janel Hamamura Ruiz Medical Fund

Aloha everyone,

I would like to take the time to tell you a little about our Aunty Janel. She’s originally from Mililani, Oahu but has been living on Kauai for over 30 years with her husband Ross Ruiz. They have 2 children, Ranel and Keli’i. Aunty Janel is a loving and caring woman. We could always count on her to be there when we needed help. She's very creative and enjoys the holidays when she gets to make all of our holiday decor. She enjoys gardening and building new projects for her garden or any event or holiday. One of the greatest things about Aunty Janel, is when around her you are guaranteed to have FUN!

In the beginning of July Aunty Janel was diagnosed with stage lV pancreatic cancer. There aren't any symptoms for pancreatic cancer in the early stages. When found it’s usually at stage lV and grows rapidly. Since her diagnosis she has been to the ER on numerous occasions to have liquid drained from her stomach. The liquid buildup causes her to be in extreme pain.

Towards the beginning of August she developed an infection which caused her to be admitted to the hospital. Unfortunately, this pushed her Chemo treatments back by two weeks. In mid August she was cleared to begin Chemo treatments.

She is currently staying on Oahu with family so that she can receive the care that she needs. Uncle Ross works on Kauai and has been commuting back and forth for work. He tries to go to Oahu as much as possible to be there to spend time with and support Aunty Janel through these tough times.

Since starting her chemo treatments her goal is to get better so she can come back home and return to work, finish her projects, continue her gardening, go fishing, and spend time with her friends and family.

I've created this GoFundMe account to graciously ask for help with Aunty Janel's sudden illness. We appreciate any like, share, donation, and most of all; prayers!
