Janelle Lavender Tobin Memorial Fund

On May 26th, 2019, we, Shannon Pohle and Sandy Pelkowsky, will be running Boston’s Run to Remember Half Marathon in memory of our beautiful friend Janelle Tobin. We will be running alongside Janelle’s dad and sister, Patrick Tobin and Holly Tobin.
Janelle was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma in April of 2018. She fought each day with unbelievable resilience and the most contagious smile. Janelle lost her battle on November 24th, 2018, but she left a legacy that will never fade.
Janelle found a love for running during her years in college at Umass Amherst. She competed in many races including a number of 5K’s and two Half Marathons, effortlessly crossing each finish line and ready for her next feat. She had incredible amounts of self-discipline and always pushed to be better. We will train in the next two months hoping to mirror her hard-work.
Alongside the completion of this race, we are asking that our friends, family, and peers donate to our run in memory of Janelle. All proceeds will be given to the Janelle Lavender Tobin Memorial Fund. This fund was established in hopes of keeping Janelle’s spirit and legacy alive with tangible items including a scholarship for graduating Danvers High School students, a memorial bench at Umass Amherst, and more. We have set a goal of $1310, $100 for each mile completed (13.1), and know that with your help we will reach this goal and the finish line.
We are honored to run this race for Janelle as we know she would be running it with us if she were here. Janelle, we love and miss you so much. We can’t wait to meet you at the finish line!
#TeamJanelle forever.
