Hi this is Erin, Janelles sister, Here’s the story of what happened:
Janelle was headed out to our grandfather’s house. Our grandfather is getting ready to sell his property and our dad, brother, and her boyfriend Nick have been helping to renovate the house to get ready to sell. The boys had gone up to the property earlier in the morning and Nell left our parent’s house around noon in our dad’s Prius. Our grandfather’s house is far outside of town. Nell had come up to a stop sign, stopped, and then proceeded on when she was t-boned on the driver’s side by a cement truck, not realizing it was a 2 way stop. Our brother and dad had to go out for supplies around the time she was struck. They came upon an accident being tended to by police, paramedics, and fire trucks. Our brother told our dad, “That’s a bad accident!” As they got closer he said, “I think that’s your car Dad.” By the debris in the road, Jami knew that it was our dad’s car. Jami ran out of the car and shoved his way around the officers telling them that was his sister in the car. Our dad and Jami were beside themselves watching as the firefighters used the jaws of life to remove Nell from the wreckage. When she was extracted, she was not conscious, and was rushed to the hospital. We were able to see Nell in the ICU shortly after she was admitted, but that was the only time we were allowed to see her because of COVID. She is not allowed to have visitors of any kind (Family, friends, clergy.) She remains in a coma and on life support to this day.
Thank you for all the prayers, calls, and support. She’s loved by many and we’re very grateful to everyone. She’s a fighter and we’re hopeful she will get through this long journey that she has ahead of her.
