Ja'nelle's Medical Camp

Hi, my name is Ja’nelle and I've been selected to attend the National Student Leadership Conference (NSLC) on Medicine & Health Care!

The NLSC is prestigious program that selects outstanding high school students from around the world to participate based on academic excellence, extracurricular involvement, and demonstrated leadership potential. It is an honor to be able to attend the NSLC, and I am extremely excited about this opportunity.

I am a straight A student, 4.0 GPA.  As a student in the Pre-Governor’s Program, I am enrolled in an extremely aggressive curriculum.  I am juggling two math classes, Geometry and Algebra 2 along with Biology, Spanish 2 and BioMed this year. Next year I am registered to take on two science classes, Physics and Chemistry along with Trigonometry and Spanish 3, to name a few. The Governor’s School is an amazing STEM opportunity; it’s a collaborative effort with George Mason University. By the end of next year, I will have earned the necessary credits to be rewarded an Advanced High school diploma; additionally, I will graduate high school with at least 12 college credits.

In addition to academics, I am also an athlete. I am a competitive swimmer and a high school Cheerleader.  Theses activities keep me physically active and me relieve some of the stress that comes with my academic responsibilities.

I’ve also participated in science competitions. The SySTEMic Solutions Competition in 2016 and the Senior Science Fair in 2017.    Both projects were awarded accolades.

One more thing about me I’d like to share… I do a fair share of community service too. I've served as  volunteer swim coach, helping young people learn to swim and I’ve served as a big sister to foster siblings. That was a really tough assignment for an only child, but extremely rewarding.

I absolutely love spending time with my family. I enjoy travelling (long car rides are awesome), shopping and hanging out at the gym. I’m looking forward to a career in medicine. I’m hoping you can help get me started!!!

I am requesting your financial support, which will enable me to attend.

The cost for me to attend the conference will be $3500. This includes the program, room and board, course materials, program activities, travel to the conference and money for other incidental expenses.  So far, I have $500, but I still need to raise an additional $3000.

Your financial support in any amount will make a big difference in helping me attend the NSLC on Medicine & Health Care.
