Help Angela and Janet -- Beloved Caregivers– Victims of Back-to-Back Tragedies
A week before Christmas, Angela (age 34) and Janet (age 32), dedicated caregivers of Alzheimer’s patients, returned home from their respective jobs. They had recently purchased their home – a symbolic event that they had finally ‘made it’ in the U.S. That night, their 85-year-old tenant shot Janet 5 times and killed her, and shot Angela in the back. Angela barely survived. (See news stories below.)
A week after Christmas, a fire completely destroyed their home. (See news story below.) All of their belongings are gone. Angela is now suffering extraordinary loss and heartbreak while needing to heal. We, her church community and the children of patients she has cared for, ask you to join us in supporting to finance the many unforeseen costs from these tragedies.
Your donations will support:
· Transporting Janet’s body to Kenya for family funeral
· Funeral costs – U.S. funeral arranged for January 4.
· Travel for one of Angela’s relatives to come here to support her and help with lost work
· Replacing clothes, bedding, etc., etc. for Angela
· Paying for continuous medical bills
· Covering costs of legal counsel (this is a very complex case)
· Supporting Angela’s physical and mental health healing
Angela and Janet have touched many of us with their unwavering compassion and patience. They have ensured that their Alzheimer’s patients and those in their final stages of life live with dignity and respect. It is in this light that we now hope to honor Janet’s life with the same dignity and respect and show Angela extreme compassion in support of her healing.
We appeal to Kenyans in the diaspora and anyone with a caring heart to give monetary support to assist their family, legal costs, hospital bills, and other expenses.
