Janet has touched many different groups of people in California, San Francisco and her childhood home of Fiji.
Janet kept in touch with many different groups of people including being active in the GLBTQ community, active in her faith, Active in the SFUSD community, and active in the communities at her childrens and grandchildrens schools in SFUSD. She worked in the San Francisco unified school district for 30 plus years as a special education paraprofessional and all around school glue. She worked with tons of kids with disabilities and without throughout her schools, Balboa, Ruth Asawa School of the Arts, The Academy SF and summer school sessions at Mission, John O'Connell, Marshall, Burton and I'm sure I am forgetting some sites. Janet is an amazing woman that profoundly touched the lives of most everyone she met. She has lived in Fiji for the past few years with her husband of 43 years who passed away unexpectedly a month ago.
For those that did not know, while she came daily to help her schools and students she was fighting her own battle with several different types of cancer, and though she fought valiantly for many years, this fight is coming to an end. Losing David took a great toll on her and she is in the hospital now and has been moved to hospice. One of her final wishes was to see her Granddaughter/Daughter Mareta whom she raised and has not seen since her move to Fiji 5 years ago before she dies.
Janet has been generous for many people for many years, now it is our turn to return her generosity. Help us send Mareta to Fiji and help pay for funeral and memorial services for this amazing woman. Please donate what you can and remember Janet and the Dean family in your prayers if you do so.
I worked with Janet for 20 years and will be collecting on behalf of the family and will be turning all donations over to them to provide for Janets final expenses and Mareta's visit to see her grandmother.
