UPDATE
As of a few weeks ago, I am no longer alone in this punch-in-the-gut, life-altering situation! Through a series of referrals, I am now being helped by Mount Carmel social care services. I now have an advocate, Will. It has been a true blessing to finally have someone help me and not be totally alone in this situation. That being said, it is still so challenging for me to go from a 2 bedroom home with a yard and a storage shed into a one-bedroom. Subsidized apartment! I still do not understand why I have to go in the first place. I am a 65-year-old disabled woman alone. Not only do I struggle with physical, emotional, and mental health disabilities, but I also battle with bladder cancer. I only get $1281 per month through Social Security disability. Since I am on a month-to-month tenancy, Jon Hanson, the owner, tells me that he doesn't need a reason to end the tenancy. After living here for over eleven years I didn't even think about being on a month-to-month tenancy!! I have never been late in making my lot fee payments, never broken any rules, nothing to deserve being told to leave! Please refer to the attached referral letter that Jon wrote for me.
The housing market is insane right now. I am looking for another mobile home, but the lot fees are astronomical. My home is too old to move. So I would have to buy another home. The lot fees are averaging between $500 - $700, with water, sewage and trash NOT included. I cannot find anywhere to live as inexpensively as I am now. Will, Jon, and I sat down for a meeting about a week ago. Jon Hanson said to me that he just doesn't like me. Because of Will, Jon is letting me stay longer, as long as I'm actively searching for Subsidized Housing. The thought of going from a 2 bedroom home with a yard and a storage shed and moving into a one-bedroom apartment is just mind-boggling to me.
As far as Kyle Beachy, Channel 4 news reporter, after he spoke to Jon, he decided not to run the story because he was threatened to be sued.
