Janet's Medical and Home Needs.

Hi, my name is Julie Nowak and I am Janet Byrne's sister.

Janet is a 12 year post double lung transplant recipient and has most recently experienced some serious medical complications. She has been in the Transplant ICU on a ventilator for 15 days now. She will be getting a tracheostomy soon and will eventually be going home. I have been brainstorming how to make Janet as comfortable as possible at home and ensure her safety and health. Aside from helping her and husband with the mounting medical bills, I have come up with a few items that I feel will help a great deal.

1. An adjustable split bed so that Janet can keep her head and chest at a minimum of a 30 degree angle and Yancy (her husband) can remain flat. It's important that Janet stay elevated to keep her airway protected from aspiration.

2. A new air purifying system to keep the air in their home as clean as possible. Janet is extremely vulnerable to dust and air impurities.

3. They have had issues with their master bathroom ventilation and battle with mold so I feel it would be important that they have there master bathroom fixed to assure that this does not continue to be an issue.

4. Lastly the carpet in their bedroom is old and harboring bacteria and I think getting that out and an alternative flooring in would help a great deal.

Janet is an amazing mother, daughter, wife, sister and friend to so many and she has been through so much over the past several years and I'm really hoping to help her feel like she can breath safely and sleep comfortable without worry when she is home.
