Janie Chambers Needs Your Help Destroying Cancer

My beloved boss from Mackinac Island has a rough battle ahead. Please help when you can.

A message from Jane:

My name is Jane Chambers (Weiss). You may know me as Janie, Linda Jane, aka L.J.

As many of you know, I have cooked and managed at countless restaurants and hotels, supervised and trained hundreds of employees, made countless friendships, and loved every second of it. Serving others has made me who I am, and I'm proud of it.

Now comes a time in my life that I am asking for your help, though it is difficult for me to do so. About 7 years ago, I had heart surgery after a massive heart attack on my way to work on Mackinac Island. Although a setback, I thought I was doing well. This was until congestive heart failure and peripheral artery disease reared their ugly heads. "Alright", I thought, "I can take some new meds, fight hard, and be good as new."

In October 2023, I was diagnosed with breast cancer by a doctor in Sault Ste Marie and after testing it was determined that I should have a double mastectomy and radiation. Not having a heart doctor or vascular surgeon on staff, made my cardiologist refer me to Traverse City/Cowell Family Cancer Treatment Center so they look at all health issues.

I've had my fair share of battles in life, but asking for help is one of the hardest for me. Anyone who knows me would say I am the last person to ask for any assistance.

The reason for this GoFundMe is that I have come to realize, I can't do this on my own. At first, I thought I could manage the transportation, housing and insurance deductibles. But I am overwhelmed by this long journey.
