Janine and Peep Need Our Help!!!

Donation protected
Our friend Janine, the cat queen of Chicago--the best cat mom and cat foster mom in the city--has  had a very tough year.  She lost two of her sweet boys this past year (one very recently), and now her beloved Peep has to have expensive surgery for a complicated procedure called a femoral head and neck ostectomy.  I pulled this explanation from her FB page:

"My Peep. I took her to the vet on 8/14 because she'd been limping. They did x-rays and decided it was a soft tissue problem- her bones looked fine. A few weeks later and no improvement so I sent the vet several videos of her walking and trying to get up. Took her back in today for x-rays under sedation. Turns out she has a broken femoral head. She needs surgery to remove that shattered piece and replace it with a false hip joint. It's called Femoral Head and Neck Ostectomy (FHNO). It's not a dire emergency and the vet is booked until early October so we were sent home with painkillers and the direction to call around and find a vet that does this surgery and can perform it sooner than October. Peep is in pain and can barely walk. I felt so sick to my stomach when the vet was telling me this that I bent over so I didn't faint. I lost Will on Monday. Peep is miserable. This surgery is going to cost a small fortune. It's uncomfortable calling around to find a surgeon and not knowing how skilled they are. The recovery from this surgery sounds painful and hard. I'm struggling, guys. I can't seem to catch a break this month. And this isn't even about me. I lost a cat and have one with a serious injury. (The vet did say that she may have been born with weak bone structure than made her more prone to this if she jumped wrong or something. I didn't witness this injury happening.) I guess if anyone has a vet they love or any experience with this or is willing to listen to me cry for a minute gimme a shout. Send Peep some love. My poor baby. Damn."

Well, this simply WILL NOT DO.  Janine fostered ALL OF MY CATS, and they are just the best, but they never would have been without Janine.  I know she's done this for so many of us.  It's expensive, it's time consuming, and it's a massive commitment--but she does it because she loves it.  I know Peep well--she is my Finny and Declan's sister--and she is the sweetest cat in the world.  Let's come together and help Janine out!  Imagine what she goes through in cat food and cat litter ALONE, not to mention expensive veterinary bills.

According to wagwalking.com, the cost of a femoral head ostectomy can be quite high, with costs varying widely depending on things such as the age of the cat being operated on and the availability of the required skills in your area. Most operations of this type will cost between $1,500 and $3,000.

Anything you can give to help Janine and Peep out in this difficult time would be amazing.  Thanks everyone.  <3
