Hi, I'm Liesl. I emerged as madame harlequin in 2020 devoted to sharing love through entertainment, art, teaching and healing. Bringing people like you together to create positive impact is my greatest passion.

“Janis from Beyond” is a two-pronged project: a fantasy biopic about Janis Joplin and a live band honoring her music.

Like many rock ’n’ roll stars’ stories, Janis’ is filled with torment and tragedy, yet to this day, she remains a powerhouse role model to many people because she valiantly pushed the envelope of freedom and expression in a time of social upheaval.

With this project, I want to uplift fans new and old with a fresh revival of Janis’ awe-inspiring live performances and a cinematically imagined healing of her traumas that liberates her into restoration.

~ MY STORY ~

As an artist with a soul and life story closely related to Janis’, creating this project is a divine calling.

For over 20 years, my fans have enthusiastically responded to my vocal performances with sincere declarations that I am Janis' reincarnation; but it wasn't until a few years ago, when a clairvoyant approached me at a dance in the desert, that I began to take the comparisons more seriously.

This psychic woman and i did not know each other, and she had never seen me perform. She approached me and asked, "For my own curiosity, do you know that you are Janis Joplin?" to which I cautiously nodded. In that moment, I felt a wave of acceptance of the possibility.

I dug into biographies, interviews and documentaries, and I was astounded to discover our uncanny similarities.

The biggest difference between Janis and me is that I've lived long enough to do some major healing. “Janis from Beyond” aims to provide Janis and her unresolved pain the healing she deserved while inspiring audiences to take action toward their own healing journeys.

~ FANTASY BIOPIC ~

As a fantasy biopic, “Janis from Beyond” will offer Janis’ fans a finer resolution with how-to healing. By creating a realm where the afterlife and dreams coincide, we conceptualize a world where, with help and determination, Janis faces her truths and learns how to heal.

This imaginative tale fuses her authentic story and music with captivating dialogue, choreographed dance and surreal animation. Audiences will not only be delighted and entertained, but connected, educated and inspired as to how they might approach their own healing.

As a life-long actress with a full roster of live-performance credits and a film degree from NC State University, I recently spent over a year studying techniques taught by acting master instructors Joseph Pearlman, Annie Chang, and Steve Holm through Pearlman Acting Academy.

~ THE LIVE BAND ~

As a live band, “Janis from Beyond” will offer both live and recorded music for folks to experience the rich sound of Janis Joplin with a fresh perspective tapped into the tunes.

Last year, I began working with an extraordinary vocal coach, Summer Watson, who helped cultivate my vocal strength to mirror Janis’. Janis had a wild range and was damaging her voice due to drug and alcohol abuse. I wanted to make sure I approached her tone in a healthy way, and I'm proud to have established my range appropriately.

The band has materialized with fantastic musicians local to Joshua Tree, CA. we envision the live band playing shows and touring to promote the film and celebrate its release.

$10,500: to compensate five core band members to learn, adapt and rehearse music (10-12 songs, $50 per rehearsal, $2,100 per musician)

$1,400: to compensate two horn players (3 songs, $50 per rehearsal, $700 per musician)

$2,500: to support the FREE live concert in Joshua Tree: Madame Harlequin's Royal Ball (event rental space, food and beverage, decorations, and compensation for musicians, sound and light engineers, ticket taker, security, cleaners, and parking attendant)

$2,500: to record, mix, and master three songs

$2,500: video shoot and edit for a pitch deck

$1,500: to support me in completing the script

$1,000: to provide marketing awareness
