Janys-Iren's First Novel Support Fund
Donation protected
Since the beginning of Covid-19 I've been living in a van, traveling and working on my first novel, tentatively titled Quieting The Cicadas. The novel is an epistolary horror novel, posing as a guide to ghost towns. I've been going to each locale included, taking photos, staying the night in the van there when possible and generally scaring the crap out of myself to get in the headspace to write this novel.
The process has been somewhat costly and I'm running low on funds, with unemployment coming to an end (or at least a lengthy pause). So, I'm currently posted up to focus on the second draft. On the to do list for this period was to launch a Go Fund Me as kind of a means of helping with my last push of expenses for this project, but I dragged my feet, unsure about how I wanted to go about it, and not really sure it was something I wanted to do. Then, I hurt myself.
As some of you may remember, In 2014, I hyperextended my patellar tendon, injuring the surrounding tendons in my knee in the fall, leaving me temporarily immobilized. Unable to stand, let alone work. As luck would have it, I've done it again, I am again mostly immobile, utilizing a cane when I have to walk, but avoiding it as much as possible. I cannot work, and am now ineligible for unemployment.
In the interest in full disclosure, it's important that those donating understand that funds will not go to the printing of the book. Publishing is already covered. However, the purpose of this campaign is to fund the following:
-Follow up with a physician.
-Fuel, food and basic expenses (insurance, phone, etc) during the month - two months that I am supposed to be off my feet.
-Van maintenance (Being that I live in the van, it's important that it remain functional)
-Copy editing and proof reading services for the final draft (combined, about $1k)
Your support during this time means the world to me, and to reciprocate, any donation of $30 or more will receive a copy of the finished novel.
A donation of $20 or more will receive the google drive link to my back catalogue of b-sides and stems which is previously only available to my Patreon subscribers.
Any donation of any amount can have access to a sample chapter as a thank you.
If you're still reading this, thank you so much for sticking with me, and for caring.
