We're raising funds for emergency relief efforts in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Why donate with us?
Your donation goes 2x as far! For every donation you make, we'll make a matching donation of up to $500 (e.g. if you donate $20, we'll make a matching $20 donation). Together, we can raise $1000 for our African brothers and sisters!

What's happening in Sudan?
Following the 2019 overthrow of former President Omar al-Bashir, there have been ongoing challenges in transitioning from military to civilian rule. Due to the political power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) that broke out in April 2023, roughly 7.3 million Sudanese civilians have been displaced. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs estimates that every 1 in 2 Sudanese require humanitarian aid.

What's happening in the Democratic Republic of Congo?
The conflict in eastern DRC involving the rebel group M23 is rooted in political and ethnic grievances. M23 consists mainly of ethnic Tutsis who accuse the Congolese government of marginalization. Despite various attempts at peace agreements and interventions by regional and international organizations, the conflict between M23 and the Congolese army has led to widespread violence, civilian displacement, and humanitarian crises.

DRC is home to roughly half of the world's cobalt supply, a key component of lithium-ion batteries. As global demand for "cleaner energy" grows, civilians in southern DRC are being forcefully displaced to expand access to cobalt mines. Homes have been burned down, crops have been destroyed and women have been sexually assaulted by soldiers in the Congolese Republican Guard -- all with little to no compensation for their losses.

We will split donations equally between the UN Crisis Relief efforts in Sudan and the DRC.
