Jaqueline McDermott Memorial Bursary
Donation protected
Our beloved Jaqueline left the physical world in early October of 2022. Jaqui was a light in the lives of so many family members, friends, treeplanters and skateboarders. We will never allow her 22 years in this world to be forgotten.
In honour of the person she was, and the spirit she continues to be, our family is in the process of obtaining charitable status for the Nice Day Shining Charity which was incorporated earlier this year. The work of this charity will have two primary purposes: 1) support of arts education through bursaries at two school boards, and 2) mental health supports for young adults in transitional employment and those who have experienced adverse impacts from meditation practice.
The bursaries will be awarde anually in her memory. Jaqui was proud to be bilingual, and as such, a bursary will be awarded to one graduate from Conseil scolaire Viamonde, and one graduate from the Waterloo Region District School Board. While final selection criteria remain to be finalized, these bursaries will be awarded to graduates in Jaqui's image - passionate artists, passionate environmentalists and givers of light.
We plan to work across Canada in working with treeplanting contractors and other organizations for support to young adults in transitional employment in need of direct mental health assistance. For those adversely impacted by meditation practice, we are planning to partner with an established non-profit organization to develop supports in Canada.
If you are making a donation and would like to direct to the arts education bursaries or the mental health supports, please e-mail details to [email redacted]. We do not yet have charitable status so are unable, at this time, to issue charitable tax receipts. However, all donations will go directly to the Nice Day Shining Charity.
Thank you for your support.
