Jared Murphy's Support Fund

On May 29 while working at a job site, Jared was found unresponsive. He had no pulse and required CPR and multiple defibrillator shocks en route to the hospital. He had a cardiac arrest from a massive heart attack and went emergently for a stent and balloon pump. He has been on life support since. In the first week his heart slowly needed less aggressive support but he remains critically ill still requiring sedation and ventilator support for his breathing. He was healthy with no known medical conditions and has never smoked.

As most of you know, Jared is an accomplished podcaster and author, well regarded contractor, avid researcher of all things archeology, loving partner to Mikayla, and friend to many. Before this happened his focus was on getting back to Belize to further research signs of Mayan civilization that have yet to be uncovered. He already had some promising connections and sites to explore.

Unfortunately, life is full of surprises and no one was prepared for this tragedy. Since their lives were so interconnected, Mikayla is trying to keep all his bills current covering things like rent, phone, car insurance and maintenance, subscriptions, relocating back from Utah, and all the other costs of living that continue while Jared is critically ill and unable to do so. Her work in childcare and needing time to transition back to Minnesota is not enough to support both of them.

This gofundme is for Mikayla to keep Jared’s financial and personal life intact. This will also include future medical expenses not covered by insurance or aid. With his condition, ongoing ICU stay, and anticipated 6-8 weeks of rehab after hospitalization, the recovery will be difficult and costly.
