Jared's Lyme Battle

2020 was AWFUL for everyone but for Jared he had an additional stress that was added to the mix all caused by a TICK.

Jared was diagnosed with Lyme disease in February of 2020. He began feeling sick in September 2019. He spent months in bed, stopped doing things he loved, exhausted his FMLA, missed out on his kiddos activities because he literally couldn't pull himself out of bed. 

We have spent nearly $40,000- yes you read that correct :( since Sep 2019. Unfortunately, the CDC doesn't recognize Lyme treatment and consequently insurance doesn't cover anything. Doctor's visit ranged from 150-400 a visit, medications have been almost 1,000 a month. Needless to say it hasn't been easy. 

Jared has been making so many improvements, so it's been worth all the $$ to see him acting more like himself.  He had to take a different job (for those of you that know he  was a DTE lineman and had to make the difficult decision to go in the office as management). He was experiencing such severe cramps, fatigue and brain fog that made him feel it was unsafe to perform his job with high voltage electricity.

One of the treatments recommended as a final push is HBOT (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy).  Jared had a MRI that showed lesions on the brain (all caused by Lyme). HBOT is supposed to be tremendously helpful if you go consistently. His LLMD (lyme-literate medical doctor) want him to go 2x/week. Jared has been hesitant to do HBOT because he is an amazing father and husband and doesn't want to spend the money.
