Jariyah Williams: Alliance Internship Housing
Donation protected
Hey! I am Jariyah Williams. I was raised in Vidalia, GA, where I graduated 3rd in my class from Vidalia High School. Currently, I attend Oglethorpe University in Brookhaven, GA as one of two Class of 2024 OU Theatre Scholars. After a tedious audition process, I earned a full-tuition scholarship to major in theatre. As I am ending my freshman year, I have been a cast member in two Oglethorpe productions: Cultivating Brave Spaces (a COVID-19 friendly production where students discussed social issues) and The Mother****** With The Hat (a student film project premiering May 5, 2021). In addition to school productions, my voice and story are also being featured in the Alliance Theatre's production of Working: The Musical. Finally, I was chosen to participate in a year-long fellowship cohort with the Alliance Theatre. This fellowship begins this summer with a teaching assistant position at a summer camp. This is a 10-week position for which I will be residing on the Oglethorpe campus in order to participate in person. This camp runs from June 1-August 6 which is equivalent to 2 sessions of on-campus summer housing. The cost for 2 sessions of summer housing is approximately $3,168. The additional $832 would go toward living expenses and possibly housing for my sophomore year. The deadline for the first session dues of $1,584 is May 21, 2021. Second session dues-- of the same amount --are due June 25, 2021. With all of this said, I am no stranger to hard work and dedication, and I plan to work outside of my internship. I am asking for your support and sponsorship to assist me in reaching this financial goal; I would be immensely grateful for your help!
