Jase & Loz's long road ahead after cardiac arrest

On Thursday 11 May, our lives were turned upside when our beautiful friend Jason Brown suffered a devastating cardiac arrest at work.

His young apprentice quickly jumped into action, performing what would become lifesaving CPR while paramedics raced to the scene.

Jason’s wife Loren, their one-year-old baby girl Luka and family made the heartbreaking dash to Brisbane from the Gold Coast, unsure what the next few hours would bring.

So critical was Jason’s condition that a machine was needed to pump his heart. At that point, it was a question of whether he’d even survive the night.

Fortunately, Jason remained stable when doctors removed him from life support and it became more likely that our beloved JJ would overcome this, because he’s a fighter.

Slowly, after sleepless nights and countless tests it became clear that the likely cause was an underlying virus attacking his otherwise fit and healthy 34-year-old heart.

Only a few days later he woke, appearing to have escaped serious brain damage and finally gracing his loved ones with that goofy smile we all adore.

While we’re ecstatic to have our dear friend still with us, it’s abundantly clear that Loren and Jason will soon face financial stress as a result.

Doctors have since told Jason - the sole income earner while Loz is on maternity leave - that he cannot even drive for six months let alone consider a return to work anytime in the near future.

Jason was never going to leave his girls, much like Loren refused to leave his bedside.

Now, it’s time we stand by their side and help them through the next chapter, and his long road to recovery ❤️
