Jashwana's Memorial Fund

On November 24th, Jashawna (17) and Josiah (18) were victims to a senseless act of gun violence outside of Westfield Shopping Center where they had been shopping for the holidays. Jashawna was struck by a bullet that traveled through her neck, spine and out through her back. Josiah was also struck at least 7 times to his spine and other vital organs.

At the scene, Jashawna was given CPR for at least 40 minutes before they were able to find her pulse and safely transport her to Harborview Medical Center to receive life saving treatment.

Upon arrival at Harborview Jashawna remained in critical condition too weak to undergo surgery to her neck and spine. At this point she was transferred to the Pediatrics Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

In PICU her lungs began to slowly get better but her brain's condition slowly worsened beyond repair. On November 30th Jashawna went down for an MRI where they found she no longer had blood flow to her brain and was pronounced dead.

Right now we are asking for support in covering remaining hospital fees, cost for her funeral and burial, and living expenses for mom.

Jashawna is an amazing young woman who was dedicated to being her best self, and letting nothing hold her back. Her dream was to be a pediatric doctor and she was already taking nursing classes to prepare herself. We’ve got to see her grow up and completely transform her life. Her love and light was able to bring almost anyone together and she will most certainly not be forgotten. I will miss her 3am group FaceTime calls, our sleepovers and our thousand take TIkToks. Nothing could’ve prepared us for this tragedy but she’s forever with us.
