Jasmine Hope De La Cruz Memorial

On Tuesday, March 30th at approximately 1:30AM Jasmine Hope De La Cruz died at the age of 23 in the passenger seat of a car driving on the 110 freeway in Los Angeles, CA. An intoxicated driver driving the opposite direction on a freeway on-ramp killed Jasmine and her friend Chris as they were exiting the freeway. This has been deemed an act of murder by the LAPD detective coroner assigned to this case. The pending criminal investigation blurs our family's ability to release specific information such as the exact cause of death and specific substances used by the impaired killer of our beloved Jasmine. Regardless, we know this to be true: Jasmine Hope De La Cruz was the victim of the grotesque and unforgivable crime of murder. Our hearts are torn and are in shock after what can only, but not sufficiently, be described as a tragedy. Jasmine lived to uplift the people around her. A young woman at the age of 23, possessed an intuitive sense of knowing when someone needed encouragement. Throughout her life she charmed those around her; she provided laughs, friendship, and inspiration.

Nothing moved Jasmine more than music, and the power it had to change the lives of others. As her late teens and early 20's began to unfold Jasmine began to pour her soul into the lyrics she wrote. As she discovered herself musically she began devoting her time, energy, and resources to funding her passion for creating music. Known musically as Jas the Poet she immediately impressed her peers and family members with her work. She was an extremely enterprising individual and envisioned a musical community that she would build to help further herself and the artist around her in reaching people with their art. At the time of her passing she had just begun operations on the branding of a clothing line she felt represented her and the music she made. Her audience began to grow exponentially as she was reaching more people than ever with the music, visuals, and connections she created. Jasmines circle of friends and collaborators was, and remains, markedly large for her age. She contained energy that broke boundaries and barriers of all kinds; this only widened and diversified the mixture of people moved by her.

Above all else, irregardless of the personal difficulties she faces and her artistic ambitions, Jasmines love for her friends and family was pure. Never did she possess any ulterior motives or self-interest in reaching out and being there for the people she loved. She genuinely just wanted you to feel better. To do better. It is for this reason that her family asks for donation in this time of hardship. As a majority of her life was spent bringing joy, excitement, and love to others we know that it is necessary to provide her the appropriate display of remembrance and acknowledgement of the life she lived. It pains us that we do not posses the means to take care of this ourselves. In the aftermath of a whirlwind year, we know that not many people do. We are hoping enough people can come across her story, and aide our endeavor to this incredible human being the worldly means to be remembered. Unaffected by this is the enduring fact that her spirit lives on in us: Her mother April, her father Jerry, and her siblings Richard, Brooke, and Matthew. We will cease to be the same after this, but also hope with the raising of awareness and funds that future disasters like this might be avoided.  Our thoughts and prayers are also with the family of Jasmine's close friend, Chris.

Whatever you can contribute is beyond appreciated. We are committed to to ensuring that all funds donated go towards all costs related to her passing. We've set our goal at an estimate of these costs that remain unmet, and with consideration to the donations sent independently to our family. We encourage anyone reads this to embrace the ones they love. As much as this has been said in the past, we find it most painfully true: Tomorrow is never promised. We thank you for all other acts of kindness and condolences  provided by many of our friends and family. Thank you for taking the time to read this message. If you are a friend of Jasmines and would like to contribute any sort of personal effects of hers that we might not be aware of, or just want to share a fond memory, please feel free to send an email to listen in the contact information of this fund. Thank you.
