Hello
My name is Maureen, and I am the proud mama bear of this beautiful lady, Jasmine. For those of you who know Jasmine, she is extremely witty, kind and compassionate. She is always the first one to offer help to those in need. She goes over and beyond for her friends, colleagues, and family. If she hears about a sick friend, she will cook them meals, or donate her time or money to help. Jasmine is an animal lover like me, and she has fostered many dogs and found them loving homes. Her two furbabies, Ham and Nugget, are both rescues and she is an amazing pet parent to them. Jasmine also lives an active lifestyle and goes to the gym regularly, hikes, takes pottery classes, and visits friends and museums.
On Sunday, Jasmine was involved in an accident. While visiting a friend, she fell down a concrete stair case . She shattered her right ankle and broke her lower right leg. Jasmine was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where she has been since. Jasmine has already undergone one surgery where pins were placed in her leg and ankle to help stabilize the bones and joints. Jasmine is being released today from the hospital but will have to go back in two to three weeks for a second, more extensive surgery. The surgeon has to basically rebuilt Jasmine's ankle. He will install metal plates, rods, etc. Jasmine won't be able to place any weight on her right leg for three months. Jazzie has a high pain threshold and is a tough girl, but to see her cry from pain, breaks my heart.
Jasmine lives in LA, and I have been here since Sunday. Jasmine will be released from the hospital today, Thursday. She lives in a ground floor apartment but there are steps leading to her apartment. We have to purchase two ramps so she can use her wheelchair to be able to leave her apartment to take her dogs out to potty in her complex grassy courtyard. We also have to outfit her shower/tub with grab bars, purchase a knee scooter so she can navigate around her apartment or places she needs to go, and other devises to help her manage her everyday life. Myself or my husband, Mike, cannot be here everyday. We live in Riverside and we both work. On the days I'm not here, Jasmine will need to hire dog walkers to walk her dogs, and take Ubers to places she needs to go since she can't drive for 3 months. She has great medical insurance, but there is a deductible that has to be met, and other unforseen expenses.
Jasmine is very independent and hates to burden others or ask for help. This has been a very humbling experience for her and us. I have never asked for help, but in this case, I am doing so on behalf of my daughter. The next three months are going to be rough for Jasmine as she adjusts to her new normal.
If you can open your hearts and wallet and donate to her fundraiser, it will be so appreciated. No amount is too small. If you can't afford to do so, we understand. Please keep Jasmine in your prayers as she navigates the next three months.
Many blessings to my friends and thank you for reading this. ❤️❤️❤️
