Jason Bache's Open Heart Surgery
Donation protected
As if 2020 wasn't a hard enough year, Jason Bache and his family got some extremely difficult news on Christmas Eve.
Over the past couple of years Jason has had a few episodes where he has had a bit of chest pain and a feeling that something is stuck in his throat. It started out as a 30 second feeling and then was gone. A year later, the same thing. Over the course of two years, the frequency and severity of these "events" have been increasing.
This summer, while camping over the 4th of July he had an attack that included a choking sensation, and that sensation has not gone away. It was time to see a doctor. After visits with ENT & GI, nothing could be found. Thankfully his wife, Britani, did her own research and had a doctor that listened to their concerns. This is when they were referred to Cardiology.
A heart scan was performed and much to everyone's surprise, it was determined that Jason had been born with a rare congenital heart defect called Anomalous Aortic Origin of a Coronary Artery. Additionally, he also has a Bicuspid Aortic Valve. In laymen's terms; an artery grew in the wrong spot (right behind the main artery of the heart). When his heart beats, it is pinching that artery and reducing the blood flow. Those "events" he was having... small heart attacks. This has to be fixed immediately as a major heart attack is imminent without repair.
At this time he's had an LVS test, echocardiogram, and heart cath done. This coming Tuesday (1/12) Jason and Britani will go back to Kalispell for the pre-op and a 4 hour class. Jason's open heart surgery will be done on Wednesday 1/13. They expect that he will be in ICU for 2 days, and then in a regular room for 2 days. As long as all goes well, he can return back home where he will need to be off of work and recovering for at least 8 weeks.
Thankfully Jason does have health insurance, but even with that he is still looking at a minimum of $7,500 out of pocket for medical bills. On top of that, lost wages for 8 weeks as his job does not offer paid vacation or paid time off. Being that he is the bread winner of the family, this will be a huge impact. It's our hope to be able to lift some of that financial burden for Jason, Britani, and their two boys (Gaige and Urijah) to ensure that all of their focus can be on preparing for surgery and Jason's healing. Any funds raised will help to offset what will be lost in medical bills, travel back and forth to Kalispell, and lost wages.
Thank you in advance for any donations, thoughts and prayers! Please know that we understand that many may not be in a place where they are able to donate monetarily after such a hard year, we are just grateful for your positive thoughts and prayers.
