Hello, my name is Melissa and for those that don’t know me I was Jason’s only sister. On Thursday I received a call from my niece Rileigh, Jason’s daughter that he was in the hospital and the prognosis wasn’t good. I spoke to the doctor myself and that info was confirmed. They said he had a massive stroke and there was a brain bleed into his brain stem. They said if he survived, he’d be in a vegetative state. The next day they called Rileigh and said he was getting worse and she needed to make the decision to remove him from life support. So herself, Jill, and Jonathan headed to the hospital to say their last goodbyes. Once they arrived, I was able to say goodbye through the phone and listen as they removed him from life support and listen as he took his last breaths. We are all absolutely devastated, our hearts are broken. Of course this was unexpected and unplanned so there is no life insurance. He will be cremated and I will bring a portion here home with me to rest next to our parents. Rileigh only 22 and Jonathan only 8 will get the rest. It’s been a really hard weekend of so many emotions to navigate through and I appreciate everyone that has reached out and sent their condolences, they mean more than you’d ever know to us. Most of his friends and what family we have left are in Northwest Indiana so I will be planning a memorial for him when Jonathan is on spring break and they can fly home. If you knew my brother you knew how hard he loved his friends and family. You knew he’d do anything for anyone if he could. We all also knew his struggles and that is where we take solace knowing he’s not suffering, their is no more pain and he is with the Lord and hanging out with our parents, our cousin, and anyone else that held a special place in his heart. My heart is permanently broken, but I know I will see him again someday. So if you can find it in your heart to donate it would be greatly appreciated. If you can please share this as well.
