Jason Curtiss's Labor Day Accident
Donation protected
Over Labor Day weekend, we were on the main channel of the Mississippi River, south of the Burlington railroad bridge, when we spotted a man and two dogs in trouble. Upon a closer look, we saw the man nearly drowning. We and another family pulled him and the two dogs to shore. Jason was transported by ambulance to Great River Medical Center. His medical condition was stable at that time and he was discharged and sent home. The following day, he was still not feeling well, so he again went to Great River Medical Center, where they admitted him for an unknown lung infection. The next evening, Jason was transported to the University of Iowa hospital, as his kidneys were starting to shut down. Jason then started to have seizures due to bacterial infection in the brain. Jason is still admitted to the ICU at the U of I, fighting this bacterial infection that he inhaled and drank during this near drowning experience. Jason to this day is having granmal seizures. We are raising money for Jason's medical expenses, time off work, and his 16 year old daughter to travel back and forth to Iowa City to see her father, during this tragic time for their family. Jason is a single father and on top of dealing with all of his medical issues, he is still worried about how he is going to care for his daughter, as she is his pride and joy. We appreciate any donations that we receive and will ensure they go directly to the family to use as they need.
