Jason Jarrell & Family Recover from Colon Cancer

Hi all, my name is Mary-Gardner. I am writing on behalf of my dear and long-standing friend Shi, and her family Jason and Gil Jarrell. I share their story in hopes that we can financially help them after what has already been a challenging series of events!

Jason’s cancer, as well as a wide spread infection, was discovered in October of 2023. After 6 months of fighting for needed treatment, Jason is currently 3 weeks out from surgery and home recovering. The Surgeon and Pathology Reports have confirmed the surgery was successful!! The next step is to confirm with the Oncologist that no further treatment should be needed. (HAPPY TEARS) Then it is a wait and heal game until he is cleared to do some work.

At this point, I’d like to add that Jason has an incredible work ethic! He continued to work up until the last week or so before surgery! I believe if he could go back to work today he would so he could support his family! But his incision and body need time to heal and build necessary nutrients back up after 6 months of trouble eating!

So…this is where we come in and help them. His PTO will not cover the whole surgery and recovery period. They need help paying living expenses until Jason is able to go back to work again! ALSO…months of both uninsured as well as insured doctors appointments, ER/Hospital visits, and surgery have left a mountain of medical bills! Shi applied for several programs both inside and outside St.Thomas and we’re denied help by anyone.
