Jason Kohles Medical Journey
Donation protected
My name is Jason M. Kohles, I have lived in Grand Junction, Colorado my entire life. I would like to point
out what an amazing community that we are all blessed to live, in the Grand Valley. To have the amazing opportunity to have so many giving people and friends that are willing to go the extra mile for a friend, an acquaintance, someone that you simply meet in passing, someone you become friends with by meeting at a volleyball match or a golf tournament. We are all blessed to live in such a community.
A background of the things that have transpired, please understand that I have a beautiful community that has offered to help any way that they can, and I do not look at this blindly. I do realize that everything that has happened to me has been a life choice that I regret and has cost me dearly. I was admitted on November 8 th into Community Hospital and was diagnosed with acute alcohol hepatitis. This has forced me into complete kidney failure as well as a non-performing liver function. This is also known as complete liver failure.
This has caused my body to stop producing urine as well as backed up my bowel movements that has forced me to need additional help from my friends and family so that I can stay on the green side of the grass. I have been accepted as an outpatient for dialysis three days a week to remove excess fluids from my system (average of 3 liters) removal every other day currently Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. We are working towards getting accepted to the live liver transplant program at UC Denver and will need to travel there to receive care and to have the transplant procedure. I cannot do this alone, my immediate family as well as prospective donors will need to travel with me. I do not recommend anyone push their health this far and I do not view myself to be that old and have pushed my body to the point of shutting down completely. Any and all help with this blessingwill never be overlooked.
So again, I thank you for such tremendous support that I have received undeservingly and I wish
everyone the best this holiday season and remember to take care of each other during this season.
