Jason - Laura Dusseault & Family

On Wednesday, April 26th, Jason was having chest pains and went to our local hospital. He was immediately transferred to UP Health Systems in Marquette and was diagnosed with an aortic dissection (A tear in the inner layer of the large blood vessel branching off of the heart). From there Jason was life-flighted to the University of Michigan hospital where he and his family have been since.

Once at U of M, there have been multiple complications that needed and need to be stabilized before the procedure (open heart surgery) to rectify the dissection.

Jason is self-employed, owning and operating a furniture store as well as a moving company. This obviously will keep him and Laura from work for a lengthy period during the surgery and recovery. They do have health insurance, which will cover some of the cost of the hospital stays and procedures. They will have some immense costs, considering the loss of business and family stays as a result of the time they both will have away from work during the process

Jason is currently intubated and in an induced coma. He is, however, making progress towards overcoming the complications needed to proceed to the corrective surgery.
