Jason Lively: Exonerated
Charles “Jason” Lively spent the past 15 years in prison—more than two thirds of them in solitary confinement—for a crime that never happened. On September 23, 2020, a West Virginia court righted this wrong by exonerating him and setting him free.
Jason lived a hell few can imagine. He was caged behind a solid steel door, with almost no human interaction and no access to the outdoors.
Behind prison walls he saw no sunshine and felt no breeze, no rain drops rolling down his face. Those simple pleasures, which we all take for granted, were replaced by fear, violence, degradation, and constant, crushing boredom.
Now free, Jason faces the new challenge of rejoining the world and rebuilding his life. He hopes to raise funds that will allow him to start a landscaping business and get back on his feet.
