Help Jason Marquis Fight Pancreatic Cancer

My name is Michelle Stagl and Jason Marquis is my "little" brother - he has cancer.

Jason is 51 years young. He is a Veteran, an artist, a master carpenter and a furniture builder. He's also a reader, a deep thinker, a son, a brother, a father, and a friend, and he was just recently diagnosed with cancer. He had pestered me to no end when we were kids - my annoying little brother who has turned into this amazing human.

Last year Jason was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer. During a trip to ER with severe abdominal pain on July 1, 2022, a potential mass on his pancreas was first discovered. On July 13th an MRI confirmed a mass on his pancreas and spots on his liver. On July 22nd he had biopsies of his pancreas and liver - confirmed cancer in both areas. On August 3rd he met with Dr. Brett Sheppard, a leading expert on pancreatic cancer care and research at OHSU, and heard the devastating words "inoperable stage 4 cancer." He started chemotherapy on August 17, 2022.

He's had bi-weekly chemo treatments for over a year and we are so thankful and grateful that his last scans show additional improvement! The grind of the continued therapy keeps him from having much energy, and therefore he has been unable to work. The most common question I'm asked is "how can I help?" We have created this fundraiser to help alleviate financial stress through loss of income while Jason goes through treatment and to cover out-of-pocket costs associated with his care.
