Jason "Posty" Postlewait Cancer Relief Fund
Donation protected
UPDATE 3/24/23 updates also on Jason Postlewait’s Tumor/Cancer updates page on Facebook. Please share. There is a long road ahead still.
from Mindy:
Well, I know it's really really late, esp. since surgery was so early today. But. The surgeon got done and came to chat about 5 pm, then we waited for the nurses to finish with him in the OR, then take him to ICU, wake him up, get a CT scan, then we were finally able to get in there about 9:30 pm.
Dr. Emerson here at UW Montlake (across the street from the UW campus) got every bit he could see. Took some time as we knew there were a few delicate areas he needed to go slower and more carefully. But he finally got it. Now we wait for pathology (2 weeks) and after that we'll get a treatment plan that will get coordinated with Walla Walla.
Tonight he's super groggy, and funny, but remembers SO much. Like what he teaches, details about WWII, me sounding like Darth Vader with my CPAP mask at night (that one made Wyatt laugh), and that his dad was in Vietnam. So his memory is fully intact, he knows his wrist hurt but not why (IV line to monitor blood pressure and it was in an artery so very irritating). He was very "wiggly" as the nurses put it, and not super cooperative as he didn't really know what he was to do. Thought it was 9 am so it was a bit fun to tell him he'd been asleep for nearly 13 hours.
Now I'm going to get some sleep so I can get up in the morning and go see him again. I'll update again tomorrow evening when we know more about how he's doing and progressing. He will also be checking his phone later when I give it back to him to read through everything that's been sent throughout today...even if I already answered/updated I know he'll spend some time over the next few days to do more himself.
“Help us Spread the Love and Remove the Burden."
Unfortunately this last week our Beloved Jason Postlewait was the receiver of some news that NO ONE wants to be given. CANCER……Not only was the news cancer, but the location of the cancer is in the Frontal Lobe of his brain. The full need for the family is unknown until the final diagnosis and determination of treatment has been done, but what we do know is it requires surgery and biopsy. There is an unknown amount of recovery and potentially lots of time off of work based on what they find following surgery. Jason will eventually be moving on to receiving radiation and chemotherapy Treatment based on what they discover from the biopsy. Those of you that have cared for or seen a family member or friend go through what Jason and his family are about to be going through can understand the amount of money and time that goes into receiving the proper care. Also the loss of work and wages while just being there and focusing on your loved ones getting better one day at a time. We want them to worry more about getting Jason home to his wife and boys and not those extra expenses that come with caring for someone with cancer.
Jason has been a prominent member of the Walla Walla community for many many MANY years. And many of those years were spent coaching and teaching you, your kids, and even your grandkids. Shaping young minds started early for Jason. He started coaching at the young age of 16. Jason has been a baseball/softball coach in Walla Walla, College Place, and Milton Freewater for all ages from Little league, Pony, and Babe Ruth Leagues. Eventually, Jason moved up to Coach baseball at Desales for 3 years where he was an athlete from 1989-1992. He started out teaching at a church school in Dayton WA from 1998-2000, right after that, he went on to subbing and coaching at Touchet for 4 years. He has since coached at Wa-Hi as the assistant coach for the last 10 years. Last year, Wa-Hi was 2nd in state for 3A fast pitch. In 2023 Jason was given the honor to start his first year as Wa-Hi’s head coach for the Wa-Hi Softball team. A well-deserved title. Jason also loves coaching his boys whenever he can.
Jason exudes passion for coaching and teaching youths throughout his life this man has been everywhere dedicating his time and energy to our youths in the Valley and beyond. His selflessness and passion for family and friends is something that all that have met him or experienced have benefited from.
We are asking you as a community to come together for someone who has been there for his community since the very beginning. We are not asking as a request from the family we are asking as a community to help us show this family and this man how much he has done for this community. This gift Jason in any amount helps us give some relief and peace of mind to them as they tackle the world's worst news. Mindy and their two boys are about to endure this courageous fight that is happening. With the unknown about to be embarked on by this family, we are looking to use the funds you donate to help cover some medical expenses, possible hotel stays, certain needs that Jason may have after surgery, or even just to give extra to Mindy and the boys while Jason heals and fights this battle.
Mindy, Jason, the boys, and the whole Postlewait family thank you and appreciate your time, consideration, and donation that you put towards this venture. You can also donate to Venmo at @jasonposty where an account has been established for the medical expenses.
