Jason Wayne Butts Expense Fund

Jason suffered a devastating injury to the frontal lobe of his brain on Monday, March 27th and was not expected to survive through the night.  He survived the night and has remained stable and unconscious since the initial injury. The medical staff has given the family the options available and the family has chosen to do long-term supportive care, which would be giving him everything he needs to survive and they must now wait to see how Jason improves. Because of it being a brain injury, the medical staff can only give what-ifs of what could happen in the future. We do know that given the site of the injury, the frontal lobe, if Jason survives, he will most likely not be the same. If he is able to recover, regain consciousness, and follow some commands, it’s a possibility that he could go to a rehabilitation facility around Cedar Rapids. If he is not able to recover in that way, he would receive the support he needs in a center in either Ankeny, Iowa or two others in Nebraska. On the other hand, Jason still might not survive this injury, and the family is trying to prepare themselves in case there are the costs of a funeral. Whatever the future holds, there will be many expenses for the family. 

Jason is a fighter and we’re not ready to give up on him. He is loved by many and anyone in his presence could feel his loving spirit. He is easy to get along with and has many long-time friends. He loves his family and loves spending time with his nieces and nephews. He has a love for life, is a free-spirit and never judged anyone.
