Jason Melek Music Project

   Jason Melek passed away on Oct 9, 2014. Jason, a passionate musician, tragically lost his battle with mental illness. His talent and music, like so many creative souls, was fueled by his intense ability to feel. That intensity burned hot and led him onto pathways of sorrow that we will never understand. Even so, with a bards smile and quick wit, he drew friends, family and strangers into his creative and loving world. Jason left us with a multitude of amazing pieces of music to remember him by and in his own words, "I didn't mean to piss off all the angels, I only want to ride on their wings".



There are about 40,000 people that take their own life, in the U.S., yearly. It's a sobering statistic and, sadly, one I was blind to until the loss of my brother. My hope is that, through Jason's music and story, others can know that they are not alone and can find help and peace within their own journey. Thank You!!!!!!!

    This GoFundMe page is being established for two reasons.  

First:  Jason left many studio demo's and songs unfinished. He always wanted to have a full band album recorded and we are in the process of bringing that dream to fruition.  To create what he envisioned is a painstaking process, with many talented musicians and costly studio hours.  Unfortunately the one person you want there, isn't.  It's like taking a trip without a map,  with some frustration and amazingly beautiful unexpected moments along the way.

We have already invested over $40,000.00 to this point. We are hoping be able to continue our mission in  making Jason's dreams, and music, come to life. Unfortunately our resources are depleted. Any funds in excess of those needed to complete the project will be donated to a charity that combats the stigma of mental illness.  Thank you greatly for any donation you can give!
 
Second:  The importance of raising awareness and reducing the stigma of mental illness. By letting others hear Jason's story and experiencing Jason's music, we're hoping to help move the message from "I'm ashamed of it" to "I need help". Most of us have been touched by mental illness at some point in our lives. It's time to remove the shame of it. Maybe together we can make a difference!
